Those who have history can tell fascinating stories about boats built by hand, when the designers called themselves “shipwrights”.
The history of the Apreamare shipyards dates back to 1849, when Giovanni Aprea began his activity as shipwright and handcrafted the first fishing boats, rowing and sailing, built according to the typical lines of the historic Sorrento gozzo. His son Cataldo and later his nephew Giovanni also dedicated their lives to nautical activity.
It was the latter, in the years after the Second World War, who had an intuition that led to the first technological innovation: the application of engines of automotive origin on goiters.
The Aprea family shipyard begins to produce the first boats for recreational use.
The passion for boats becomes a family tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation and Cataldo, Giovanni’s eldest son and current CEO of Imbarcazioni d’Italia, also becomes a shipwright.
In 1988 Cataldo Aprea founded Apreamare Srl with the builder Salvatore Pollio, enriching the historical craftsmanship with the innovation of materials, shapes and design, arousing considerable interest in Italy and abroad.
In 2001 Apreamare was acquired by the Ferretti Group, which – in the nine years of management – focuses on internationalization and consolidation of the brand’s positioning.
In 2010 the founding families, linked to the Neapolitan history and tradition of the Company, took back control with the aim of enhancing the original and distinctive characteristics of the products.
Apreamare wants to satisfy the desires of men and women who love the sea and want to enjoy a full life, with enthusiasm and passion. Make them feel part of an important project and above all part of our family.
To convey to them the true value of the excellence of our brand and our products, an excellence made up of unique details and objects.
